Share Uganda is a volunteer-led charity providing primary healthcare and community support in rural Uganda.

We are the Data Controller for all the information you provide to us.

2. What personal data we collect

We may collect:

• Contact information (name, email address, phone number)

• Donation details (amounts, Gift Aid declarations, payment method used — but not full card numbers)

• Newsletter sign-ups

• Website form submissions

• Volunteer enquiries

• Communication preferences

• Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and basic analytics (if used)

• Special category data is only collected if you explicitly provide it (eg. health data for volunteering) and is handled with extra care.

We only use your data when we have a lawful basis. This includes:

• To process donations and manage Gift Aid (legal obligation)

• To send updates, newsletters or fundraising appeals if you’ve opted in (consent)

• To respond to enquiries or requests (legitimate interest)

• To manage volunteer applications (consent/legitimate interest)

• To improve our website through basic analytics (legitimate interest)

• We never sell or swap your details with other organisations.

Under GDPR, we rely on:

• Consent — when you sign up for emails or newsletters

• Contract — when you make a donation or request information

• Legal obligation — for Gift Aid

• Legitimate interests — running the charity efficiently and providing supporters with relevant information

We store your information securely using password-protected systems.
We limit access to authorised personnel only.
Data is kept only for as long as necessary:

• Donation records: 6 years (legal requirement)

• Mailing list contacts: until you unsubscribe

• Volunteer applications: up to 12 months unless you ask us to remove them

We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who help us run the charity, such as:

• Payment processors (e.g. Raisely, Stripe, PayPal)

• Email providers (e.g. Mailchimp or MailerLite)

• Cloud storage or IT support

• These providers must comply with GDPR and can only use your data to support Share Uganda.

• We do not sell your data or allow third parties to use it for marketing.

Because some of our service providers are outside the UK or EU, data may be transferred internationally.
When this happens, we ensure that:

• Other GDPR-compliant safeguards

• are in place to keep your data safe.
